Up until now it’s been impossible for multiple hotels to share a central Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise system. SourceTech Extend solves this problem by inserting a service between the PBX and the booking system(s) and relay the data packets between the systems using advanced number analysis. The Extend solution consists of two parts. The extend server is connected to the PBX and will act as a booking system from the PBX’s perspective. The booking systems on the other hand communicates with an extent client that simulates a PBX from the booking systems point of view.
The Extend server is equipped with a numbering plan in order to determine whereto the messages from the PBX should be delivered. This is easily configured in the setup menu that is a graphical interface for all configuration of the Extend solution. Even the Extend clients are configured from this interface in order to get a single point of administration.

The Extend server is a windows service that emulates a hotel booking system. It always communicates with the PBX over TCP/IP and it have a built in buffer to secure that no information is lost - the data is kept even if the machine is rebooted.
Some booking systems can use TCP/IP to connect to the PBX, other are using a serial connection known as V24. Each Extend Client is configured individually to use TCP/IP or V24. This means that you always have an interface ready to use when you add a hotel booking system to your solution.
The Extend client is a windows service with som great features built in to it. Just like the Extend server the Extend client have a built in buffer in order to secure that no information from the booking systems is lost - Likewise the server, the booking data is kept even if the machine is rebooted.
The Extend client can convert the protocol from 8 to 5 digits length for the phone number for those applications that haven’t got support for eight digit extension lengths. It can also translate phone numbers back and forth between the PBX and the booking system to creata a viritual numbering plan for the booking systems. This feature enable the configuration to viritually have the same phone number to the room service for all hotels connected to the same PBX. As a guest you’ll always know what number to dial if you want to order something to the room.
